Job Summary
– The Strategic Customer Director is the primary business development interface for key, critical, large
defense programs with top OEM customers
– Develops alliances and relationships with clients and associated organizations designed to produce
sales opportunities
– Captures new business wins and opportunities with new and/or existing customers; initiates action
plans to secure new business
– Accelerates sales by developing long-term client and internal relationships
– Grows and retains existing accounts by matching customer business needs with Ducommun
– Evaluate program trends and provide analysis with recommendations to management of must-win
campaigns and opportunities
– Meets or exceeds annual sales revenue growth goals
– Prepares and delivers sales metrics including, but not limited to: sales forecasts and revenue,
account status reports, new business opportunities, competitive environment, and expense control
– Formulates sales strategies, reviews bids and terms of sale, and communication of the competitive
environment for the assigned key customers to ensure that new opportunities are bid to generate
profits at the targeted levels
– Creates and manages business plans that include qualification and evaluation of strategic fit,
positioning, bidding, competitive analysis, deal negotiations, and related activities
– Interprets and communicates customer requirements that enable the development of services and
operational capabilities that support new customers and business opportunities
– Attends key forums, trade shows, and customer meetings

Required Skills and Qualifications
– Strong hands-on, highly energetic, and relentless sales professional who will capture and farm new
business opportunities

– Proven track record of developing new BD channels and success in obtaining new business wins
– Driven, proactive, and self-starter with strong time management and people skills
– Excellent verbal and written communication skills; must be able to communicate effectively and
professionally with customers and across all organizational levels
– Computer skills – Proficient in Microsoft Office and Project Management
– Negotiating and influential skills
– Detail-oriented, organized, and excellent customer service skills
– Must be able to work independently and also effectively with performance center teams
Physical Requirements
– Up to 50% travel to other sites, customer site, and other forums
– Manufacturing environment and office environment
– Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Required Experience and Education
– BA/BS degree or equivalent years of experience required
– 10 years BD, program management, or similar experience in A&D and/or electronics manufacturing
required; experience working with large OEMs a plus; experience in electronics manufacturing a plus
– Certification in PMP and or CAPM preferred, Contracts Administration, Project Management a plus.
– Experience in production control, contracts management, project management or contracts
management a plus
